ANTILLECTUAL News Letter September 2009: EURO TOUR WITH AFTER THE FALL

The last couple of months we have been doing some awesome stuff. Playing cool shows at the Fluff fest, Skate fest, and other festivals, doing a tour through Germany, Poland, Austria and the Czech Republic, a tour together with our friends from Rentokill and on top of all that some acoustic shows. Now the future.

Euro tour October with After the Fall (USA)
When we toured the USA in 2008 we met up with the friendly guys of After the Fall. An amazing band from Albany, New York in the style of I Spy, Strike Anywhere and Propagandhi. This October we will be touring Europe with them. Please come out and enjoy their tunes, and listen to our new ones while you are there:

New shirts, acoustic 7” and samplers
We already announced it on our site, but we have new T-shirts. White! Fair Trade! BIIIG design! And we still have some copies of our acoustic 7” left. Check the site for more info. Recently some of our songs were put on extremely cool samplers such as Pop-punk Loves You #4, the Fair Trade Merchandise sampler, the Still Thinking online sampler and the Kid Dynamite tribute “Carry the Torch”. This last one is finally out and features our version of “Wrist Rocket”. Check Shield Recordings for the double-LP. The other samplers are available through us. Furthermore Shield Recordings will release a label sampler for their 5 year anniversary later this year, featuring a previously unreleased demo song we recorded when we were in the studio for the Kid Dynamite cover.

New songs, recordings and other stuff
Currently we are really busy and actually past halfway writing a new album. We want to release it in 2010. For now we already have a live clip of a new song (“Kraken Gaat Door!”) on our site.

LOOKING BACK AND FORWARD: WHAT A YEAR IT WAS & WILL BE!

Looking back on 2011 proves we had a busy year. We did around 110 shows, including the support for Boysetsfire on their reunion tour, for Rise Against on their biggest German show to date, and for De Heideroosjes on their farewell tour. 2011 brought us to new places like Russia, Greece, Hungary and Scotland, and saw us play at Eurosonic/Noorderslag, Riez Open Air and the Jupiter Singfest for the first time. The year started with our van passing the 500.000 km mark, and we ended the year with a steady 545.000 on the meter. This does not even include our trips to Russia and Greece, which we did by plane.



We sure made a lot of miles in 2011, literally and figuratively. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make this possible: promoters, people coming to the shows, helping hands on tour, and in special Sylvia and Jacho at Destiny, Glenn and Sandro at Mighty Vision, Vladimir and Sergej at Play It Loud, Apostolis at WAK, Etjen at Just Like Your Mom for always thinking along and our steady tour-help Thomas.

Something we are neither proud nor ashamed of: this year we played with 4 different bass players (thank you Tom, Tim and stand-in Koen!), resulting in Glen as our steady new bass player. In 2011 we also released our first ever music video.



2012
While we can look back happily on a busy and hectic 2011, we prefer to look forward and focus on what is yet to come. Here’s what we have planned for 2012 so far. More to come!

New Website
On January 1st we launched our new website, something we’ve been looking forward to for a while. If you want to know what is going on with us, listen to our albums, check our tour dates or just get in touch, our website is the most trustworthy place to go. Subscribe yourself to its feed and be up to date all the time.



Brazil
More new territory: On February 1st our latest album “Start From Scratch!” will be released in South America through Undermusic Records (Mute, Forus, End of Pipe). South America has been on our radar for a long time now, and we’re very glad to get our music out there. A South American tour will follow.

New album
Maybe the most exciting news for 2012 is that we will be working on a new album. We are currently writing new songs and playing them into shape. Recordings will follow next winter the soonest. We’ll be playing these new songs on stage too, so come hear for yourself at a show and let us know if you like it!

Transatlantic tour and fresh old releases

While it may seem that we are laying low (our last tour was in December) we are actually planning more than ever: tours, releases and new recordings!

Fest 11 + USA Tour
Can we get a drum roll please? The biggest and best news by far is the tour that we have planned for October and November. After 4 years of absence, we will finally return on American soil. We have been confirmed to play the almighty Fest 11 in Gainesville, and we will be touring the USA on our way down to Fest. Details to be confirmed.

Re-releases “Start From Scratch!” and “Testimony”
Since all LPs of “Start From Scratch!” and all CDs and LPs of “Testimony” are out of stock, we decided to run a second pressing of both albums together with our friends at Shield Recordings. The 350 gatefold LPs of “Start From Scratch!” will be “seein’ red” and “Testimony” will see a reincarnation of 250 LPs in the “grey area”. The 500 “Testimony” CDs will be a jewel case edition.



Pre-production, recordings and EP
Having written half a new album already, we decided to book some studio dates. In May we will record these songs to prepare ourselves for the recordings of our fourth full length album next winter. 2 of those new songs will end up on an EP which will be released later this year. Details to be confirmed.

New zippers and shirts
No re-release here! Freshly designed zipped hoodies and T-shirts! Stay up to date and support us by ordering a shirt, zipper, a repressed album or a nice package of shirt+album.



Shirts have the King Kong print on the front. A limited amount of these shirts, with a red and black print on white, will be sold by Fairtrademerch at this year’s Groezrock Festival. Speaking of Groezrock: make sure to stop by Shield Recordings and No Reason Records on the market, and treat yourself to one of Mom’s Veggie Burgers.
